Turok

Turok. And that's all that needs to be said. Words that come to mind when you hear Turok:

Badass, kickass, brutal, gory, glorious, awesome, killer, dinosaurs, dinosaur slayer. Haha, well, they at least come to my mind. For those of you who don't know who Turok is, allow me to introduce,

Turok is a fictional American comic book character initially in comics from Western Publishin published through licensee Dell Comics. He first appeared in Four Color Comics#596 (October/November 1954), then graduated to his own title, Turok, Son of Stone. Gold Key Comics and Valiant Comics later published the character.
When the character appeared in Valiant Comics, the concept and setting were altered slightly. Turok and Andar were now 18th century Native Americans. The isolated valley became the Lost Land- a cosmic anomaly where time moved in a self-contained loop (which meant that while millions of years passed outside of it, inside it, time barely moved at all). Unity, a line-wide Valiant Comics crossover, altered the concept even further. The crossover's main villain, a psychotic, super-powered being known as Mothergod used the Lost Land as the base of operations. She outfitted the dinosaurs with intelligence-boosting implants, turning them into "bionisaurs". In the aftermath of the final battle between Mothergod and Valiant Universe heroes, the Lost Land began to disappear. Turok wound up tossed into the jungles of then present-day Columbia. Andar landed in parts unknown. Unfortunately for Turok, a group of bionisaurs made it to Earth along with him. Since then, he became a ruthless bionisaur hunter. Valiant published a total of 53 issues before Acclaim purchased them, including Turok: Dinosaur Hunter #0-47, Original Turok, Son of Stone #1 & 2, Turok Dinosaur Hunter Yearbook in 1994, and the two-issue mini-series Turok the Hunted in 1996.

As a child, the stories thrilled me, and I was able to overlook flaws, such as calling herbivores "flesh eaters." It also seemed to me that the poison arrows worked a little too quickly, killing the targeted dinosaur virtually on contact. Flaws and all, Turok remains one of my fondest memories, and I've taken up collecting back issues of the comic.

The Punisher

I love this Marvel comic because it is just so dark. All the superheros always refuse to kill anyone because it is not true justice. But the "Punisher" finds a way around that rule and says it is their punishment. But Frank Castle or aka, The Punisher did not chose to do this out of the blue. His dark past haunts him every day of his undead life and fuels him to kill criminals with brute force and guns. The Punisher is a vigilante who considers killing, kidnapping, extortion, coercion, and threats of violence, and torture to be acceptable crime-fighting tactics. Driven by the deaths of his family, who were killed by the mob when they witnessed a gangland execution in New York, City's Central Park the Punisher wages a one-man war on the mob and all criminals in general by using all manner of weaponry. His family's killers were the first to be slain. A war veteran, Castle is a master of martial arts, stealth tactics, and a wide variety of weapons. The Punisher first appeard in "The Amazing Spider-Man". But he was an antagonist of Spidey as the Punisher always tried to hunt down Spider-Man.

X-Men Origins Wolverine

I just had to do a post on this movie. A couple years ago, my friend Justin told me about the Origins of Wolverine. He said he got a few books and videos on it from the comic store. Wolverine is probably my favorite X-men character of all time. Probably my favorite Marvel character as well with the Punisher. Well for those of you who don't know, Wolverine, or Logan, or James Howlett has been alive since the 18th century. He fought in the civil war, World War 2 ( where he saved Magneto) and every war since then. I mainly love this character because he just can't be killed. First he was able to heal himself and now he's filled with indestructable metal. so no killing Wolverine for a very long time. Here is the plot for the movie:

Wolverine lives a mutant life, seeks revenge against Victor Creed (who will later become Sabretooth) for the death of his girlfriend, and ultimately ends up going through the mutant Weapon X program.

Gambit and Deadpool will also show up in this fantastic movie. I just can not wait for this movie to arive in theatres. The hype is just to great!! WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK?

Tarzan

Here is a series that everyone should know. Of course, even Disney did his version of Tarzan. This is also a favorite of Mr. LaCombe's. The Lord of the Jungle is always fighting to survive in this wilderness and saving the damsel in distress known as Jane. Won't those stupid beast's ever learn they can't mess with Tarzan? Haha. Well I thought these were some great covers that Mr. LaCombe emailed to me. So enjoy!

TMNT!

Haha. I never new how many comics I see everyday. I woke up this morning on a Saturday to find that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was on the boob tube. Well this image here is the first issue of the comics of TMNT. This was created as a parody of Frank Miller's "Ronin". The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles originated in an American comic book published by Mirage Studios in 1984. The concept arose from a humorous drawing sketched out by Kevin Eastman during a casual evening of brainstorming with his friend Peter Laird. Here are the names of the four turtles, Leonardo, Raphael, Donetello, and Michelangelo. They were named after the four geniuses of the Renaissance era known as Leonardo Da Vinci, Raphael Sonzio, Donetello the sculptor, and MIchelangelo Buanarroti.

Leonardo(Blue) - He is practically the brains of the operation. The big cahunna of the four. He has two swords and leads the four into combat. He loves to chill but mainly is always training hard.

Raphael(Red) - He's the badass. Raphael is pretty jealous of Leonardo because Raphael wants to be the leader. But Raphael is the strongest of the four muscle wise. The only difference between Leo and Ralph is Leo can think like a leader about situations while Ralph likes to use brute force. He uses weapons called a sai. They basically have three prongs on it with the middle being the largest.

Michelangelo(Orange) - He is the most laid back of the four. He loves to skate and surf until he can't no more. He's always screamin out kowabunga, or totally dude, or any surf phrase you can think of. Michelangelo uses nunchaku to fight his foes.

Donetello(Purple) - He is the smartest one. He is practically a scientist, inventor, engineer, and techenological genius. He prefers to use his intellect allibilities to solve problems but when he does fight he uses a bo.

This badass surfer dudes are all trained by their master Splinter. Splinter was mutated into a Rat but he still has his martial arts ability. Whenever there is a problem between the four they look to Splinter for guidence. They train in the sewers of New York and eat pizza's all day long. I loved to play TMNT video games on my SuperNintendo and ofcourse watched the television show as a kid. What is your guys's take on TMNT??

BATMAN!

Here's probably everyone's favorite superhero after seeing the Dark Knight? HAHA. But I've actually been a fan since I was about 4 years old. For those of you who are not really into Batman here is some info on the character

Batman's secret identity is Bruce Wayne, a wealthy industrialist, playboy, and philanthropist. Witnessing the murder of his parents as a child, Wayne trains himself both physically and intellectually and dons a bat-themed costume in order to fight crime. Batman operates in the fictional American Gotham City, assisted by various supporting characters including his sidekick Robin and his butler Alfred Pennyworth, and fights an assortment of villains influenced by the characters' roots in film and pulp magazines. Unlike most superheroes, he does not possess any superpowers; he makes use of intellect, detective skills, science and technology, wealth, physical prowess, and intimidation in his war on crime.

I've always loved Batman mainly because he's just a normal dude kicking everyone's ass with his fists and toys. When I started watching the shows on T.V., I never stopped. So when they would show back to back episodes, I would watch until they were finished. I probably watched every show and read every comic. I also think Batman has the best enemies. They're so full of character and are just bad to the core. Some of his enemies include the Riddler, Penguin, Catwoman, Poison Ivy, Mr. Freeze, Scarecrow, and Two-Face. But his most implacable foe and my favorite is the Joker. The Joker has always been trying so hard to get a laugh from Batman. He never once could make Batman crack a smile. So they've always kind of gone hand in hand.

This man deserves to be on here. He has done the most amazing job of portraying the Joker. I don't know what the Batman crew is going to do movie wise for the Joker, because they just will not be able to pull of another Joker. It will ruin all the Batman movie series just like the ones in the 80's and 90's. What do you guys think is going to happen?

StormWatch

Here is a little insight for StormWatch

The Stormwatch team was run by the United Nations, and overseen from a satellite by their director, "the Weatherman". The Weatherman was one Henry Bendix, who had cybernetic implants connected to his brain to better monitor various world situations and his Stormwatch teams in action. His field commander was Jackson King, aka Battalion. Other members included Fahrenheit (a young American woman, a pyrokinetic), Hellstrike (an Irish police officer, an energy being), Winter (an ex-Russian Spetznaz officer, an energy absorber), Fuji (a young Japanese man, another energy being trapped in a large, super-strong containment suit), and Diva (a young Italian woman with sonic powers).

I chose to blog about this comic mainly because I know someone who has worked a lot on this series. You see his name up there on the comics as "Scott Clark", father of my best friend Andrew Clark. Well mainly you can already guess what this comic is about by reading the description. Just basically the team StormWatch protecting other worlds from bad guys and freaky weather.

Spawn

This is one of my personal favorite comics ever. For those of you who are unfamiliar to Spawn, prepare to be amazed. Spawn used to be a Black Special Ops forces in the military. His name was Al Simons. He had a beautiful wife and daughter. One night he is doing his business and gets killed. He doesn't know it, but he was betrayed by his boss. Sine Al Simons was a killer for a living, he automatically went straight to hell. He did not meet Satan, for he met Malebolgia. He is one of the high ranked demons in hell. "Hell" really liked his military talent, so they made him leader of the hell army known as "Hellspawn". He accepted this deal in order to see his lovely wife once more. When he returned to earth, his whole body was burned from the fire which he died. So he refused to let his wife see him like this and watched her from a distance. He later found out she was married to his best friend. Of course, already being angry that he sold his soul to the devil, he is now angry that his X-wife is now married to his best friend. He finds out later from Clown aka "Violator" that his old boss betrayed him during his mission. Through the Spawn series, he tries to recollect his memories of who he once was and put an end to this war between Heaven and Hell since he is stuck right in the middle.
