Spawn

This is one of my personal favorite comics ever. For those of you who are unfamiliar to Spawn, prepare to be amazed. Spawn used to be a Black Special Ops forces in the military. His name was Al Simons. He had a beautiful wife and daughter. One night he is doing his business and gets killed. He doesn't know it, but he was betrayed by his boss. Sine Al Simons was a killer for a living, he automatically went straight to hell. He did not meet Satan, for he met Malebolgia. He is one of the high ranked demons in hell. "Hell" really liked his military talent, so they made him leader of the hell army known as "Hellspawn". He accepted this deal in order to see his lovely wife once more. When he returned to earth, his whole body was burned from the fire which he died. So he refused to let his wife see him like this and watched her from a distance. He later found out she was married to his best friend. Of course, already being angry that he sold his soul to the devil, he is now angry that his X-wife is now married to his best friend. He finds out later from Clown aka "Violator" that his old boss betrayed him during his mission. Through the Spawn series, he tries to recollect his memories of who he once was and put an end to this war between Heaven and Hell since he is stuck right in the middle.
